Principles of Internet Marketing: e-Marketing
I recently conducted a workshop on the topic of Internet marketing at Wheaton Business Innovation Center (WBIC) . I have posted the presentation material below.
My presentation focuses on collaborative innovation and takes a more strategic view of e-Marketing planning. I try to emphasize that Internet marketing is much more than your company's website.
A number of audience members expressed interest in weblogs and role of social media integration. I listed some resources at the end of the presentation. There are a number of books on creating your own blog and blogging protocol in general. My recommendation is that before you start reading a bunch of books, decide if you are going to use one of the popular hosted blog services or run your own weblog software. Look at some sample blogs you like, and see if you can identify the application. See if you can find a Powered By or trademark for the blog application.
Once you have made a decision, look for specific resources on the application or service. I listed a number of very popular hosted blog services such as WordPress and TypePad at the very end of my presentation. TypePad SUPPORT has lots of great information, which users can access free online without having to setup an account first. Hosted services are very affordable and give you more control over your blog. If you go with a number of free blogs like Google’s Blogger, make sure you understand what you can and cannot do. Without a question, you are going to experience a bit of a learning curve. For a few dollars a month with a hosted blog service, you get support. I personally would recommend TypePad for anyone interested in a hosted service. Excellent support and very good online FAQ resources.
As always, I welcome your input.
